energy drink gives man heart and kidney failure

A 21-year-old British Citizen who consistently drank 4 cans of energy drinks per day was diagnosed with renal (kidney) failure and heart failure after two years of consistently sustaining the habit.

The case study published on the 15th of April in the BMJ Case reports disclosed that although he finally recovered, he was a suitable candidate for both organ transplants after spending a week in the ICU and two months in total at the hospital.

The man who consumed 640 mg of caffeine per day as opposed to the recommended 400 mg daily limit suggested that more awareness should be done for the harmful effects of energy drinks.

In addition to both his organs failing, he also suffered tremors, shortness of breath, indigestion until he dropped out of the university.

Research has shown that high levels of caffeine could lead to brain damage, seizures, panic attacks and ADHD and an ineffective memory
