Mackenzie Scott who has since remarried after her divorce with Bezos, announced yesterday that the sum of $2.74 billion had been donated in charity to 286 different nonprofits and organizations focused on racial justice.
According to Scott, the organizations that were selected were historically underfunded and overlooked and organizations struggling against inequalities deserve Centre stage in stories that they are creating.
Mackenzie, who pledged to give half of her fortune to charity, estimated at $36 billion in 2019, had given out close to $6 billion in 2020 alone mostly to historically black colleges in the states in her drive for equity.
