Nigerian Governors have said they will strengthen security surveillance along state boundaries to enforce the inter-state lockdown order.

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, at its 7th Teleconference meeting noted that the lockdown order at the boundaries has been flagrantly flouted, necessitating a renewed collaboration with the Nigeria Police, the National Union of Road Transport Workers, and local Government Chairmen to ensure compliance.

The Governors also reached an agreement to provide other incentives such as Insurance cover for personnel in the frontline of the war against COVID-19 in the light of rising cases of infections among health workers.

Key players in the health sector such as Nigeria Medical Associations, Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, and the National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives made presentations to the Governors at the Teleconference meeting where the Governors gave assurance of their commitment to the support of health workers.

The Governors expressed appreciation to the Private Sector Coalition for the provision of palliative to households and testing facilities to help curb the spread of Coronavirus disease.
