Some residents and workers in Bayelsa State have described as embarrassing and disappointing the last-minute suspension of the planned nationwide strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC.

However, in an interview with reporters in Yenagoa, the state capital, leadership of the Unions in the state appealed to workers to be calm, stressing that Labour is always committed to the interest of the Nigerian workers.

The planned nationwide strike by the organised labour unions was the focus of Nigerians due to the hike in fuel price and the electricity tariff.

Workers in the state were fully ready for a shutdown until the wee hours of Monday when the news of the suspension hit the air, stirring reactions and criticisms from different quarters.

The leadership of the Bayelsa State chapter of the labour unions called on strained nerves to calm down, calling for understanding with the Unions

Nigerians hope that the resolutions reached between labour and the Federal Government will not be an effort in futility.
