The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed a protest staged by youths in Daddara, a village under the Jibia Area Council of the state following the waves of insecurity witnessed in the area leading to the death of one person.

The spokesman of the Command, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the incident to reporters, said the Command is doing everything possible to bring the situation under control.

“It is true that the youths blocked the Jibia- Katsina road protesting bandits attack but what I cannot confirm and ascertain is the actual cause of death of the one person since we are yet to get briefs from the area commander. I cannot tell if it is from the rioters or otherwise,” he said.

Isah further hinted that Jibia is not prone to attacks and not among the eight frontline area councils under banditry attacks and wonder why the youths will take to protest to the extent of blocking the road.

The Katsina State Police image maker also warned parents to endeavour to always look after their children and wards by ensuring they do not engage in taking laws into their hands.

Jibia area council shares an international border with the Niger Republic and it is the fourth time in the recent period that youths are blocking the road protesting incessant bandits attacks.
