Kenya to return Sputnik-V Vaccine to Russia

Kenya’s Health Ministry Deputy Director, Dominic Kariuki has announced that Kenya will be returning a batch of Russian coronavirus vaccine, Sputnik V a week after the nation banned the importation of vaccines by private entities.

Mr Kariuki shared the information with the Senate’s health committee as below:

The company is now in the process of officially applying. The letter of intent has already been given to the pharmacy and poisons board, he said.

Those who had received the first dose of the vaccines will still be applicable for the second dose after a 3-weeks period as disclosed by the Chief Administrative Secretary of Health, Rashid Aman.

527 people were initially vaccinated with Sputnik V, it is unclear if the same vaccine will beused as their second dose as of this writing.
