The Katsina State Chairman of the Monitoring and Enforcement Committee of the Security Challenges Containment Order and Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, has confirmed that there are tremendous successes recorded, in the ongoing onslaught against the bandits in the forest, as security agencies have taken the war to their doorsteps.

Buba who was speaking in an interview with reporters confirmed that due to the ongoing onslaught, the forest has now become hot for the bandits who are running away to find soft landings elsewhere.

He also hinted that the compliance rate on the Security Challenges Containment Order
is encouraging, as from the day of inauguration.

He said about two weeks ago, the command had arrested a total of 56 suspects, recovered 87 animals and others for flouting the order.

The Commissioner of Police also noted that the Security Challenges Containment Order, signed by Governor Aminu Masari, is helping to curtail the activities of bandits in the state, as well as in other parts of the region, due to the neighbouring Governors’ synergy.

Buba said the committee is encouraged by the level of compliance, with several arrests made, just as the suspects will soon be charged to court.

The committee chairman also said that with the security challenges containment order in place, the security agencies are dealing heavy blows on the bandits in the forest, advising them to repent now or face the full wrath of the law.

Buba said that though the order is temporary, it is felt by the affected people in the frontline local government areas.

He said the order is necessary to ensure that peace and security return to the state.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Musa Danladi, on his part, promised speedy prosecution of offenders, to serve as a deterrent to would-be defaulters.

He pleaded with the residents of the state to ensure compliance with the order.
