Police in Katsina State have arrested and paraded three members of the Hakika Islamic Sect for conspiring and jointly having carnal knowledge of a 20-year-old married woman, Zainab Ahmed, under the guise of indoctrinating her into their sect.

The police spokesman in the state, Superintendent of Police, Gambo Isah, while parading the suspects said they are between the ages of 19 and 27.

According to Isah, the lady’s husband, 30-year-old Abdullahi Isiyaku, who had been in Lagos for over one year, seeking greener pastures, had returned to their Wardanga Village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State and found his wife with a four month-old-baby girl.

Isiyaku who reported the matter to the Danja Divisional Police Station said he left his wife Zainab, under the care of her parents at Unguwar Dantalle Village, Tandama, Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State.

He said he discovered that she was impregnated after three members of the Hakika Islamic sect from the same village brainwashed her and had sexual intercourse with her.

The 20-year-old victim narrated how she was brainwashed by the trio.

According to her, they abducted her into their house after they indoctrinated her into their sect, promising her goodies to come with her joining them.

Zainab further hinted that one of the conditions given to her for joining the sect involves them having carnal knowledge of her which she agreed and the three of them had their way and then initiated her into the sect.

She said the trio jointly raped her severally resulting in the pregnancy, and the eventual four-month-old baby she is carrying.

The three suspects did not deny their involvement in the crime, but denied having unlawful carnal knowledge of the lady.

They also suggested that the police run a Deoxyribonucleic Acid, DNA test, to help ascertain the truth of the matter.

Reports have it that the Hakika sect had allegedly been recruiting and indoctrinating adherents into their radical teachings which are similar to that of Boko Haram.

Activities of the sect, allegedly, include non-adherence to five daily obligatory prayers, non-observance of the Ramadan fast, promotion of fornication, and adultery, among others.

Isah said investigation is ongoing in the matter.
