Following the resurgence and the new trend of abduction involving family members of highly placed government officials and lawmakers, the Katsina State House of Assembly has declared full support for all security measures so far taken by Governor Aminu Masari, to curb banditry and other crimes in the state.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Information and Member representing Katsina Constituency, Ali Alibaba, who said this to reporters shortly after the plenary on Monday, said they will rally around their members who are victims of the bandits’ attacks.

The lawmaker said the weekend abduction of family members of two lawmakers was very unfortunate.

He said that the House is solidly with them in prayers and support, to ensure that the abductees are reunited safely with their respective families.

According to Alibaba, the House was more than 100 per cent in support of all security measures taken by Governor Masari to curb crime in the state.

The lawmaker further noted that they remain grateful to the Governor and the security agencies in the state, for all the security measures taken so far, hinting that their proposed meeting on the security situation in the state between the state lawmakers and their counterparts at the National Assembly who are from the state will happen soon.

Although the lawmakers did not formally discuss the recent incidents during the plenary, they, however, held a prayer session for God’s intervention over the insecurity in the state.

The Deputy Speaker and Member representing Faskari Constituency, Dalhatu Tafoki, whose about-to-wed younger sister was abducted in the early hours of Sunday, attended the plenary but declined comments as he pleaded that he is still emotionally disturbed.

His Bakori counterpart, Dr Ibrahim Kurami, whose first wife and two sons were abducted, was absent.
