Forty-two persons have been confirmed to be abducted by gunmen in Government Science College, Kagara headquarters of Rafi Local Government Area of Nigerian State.
In a statement rereleased by the Governor Abubakar Bello’s spokesperson, the governor made the confirmation shortly after an emergency security meeting held in Government House in Minna.
The Governor said that they include 27 students, three Members of Staff and 12 family members in the College quarters.
The Governor also noted that a student by name Monday Doma was killed by the bandits during the abduction process in the early hours of today.
The remains of the student have been buried.
Few hours after the abduction, a Member of Staff escaped from the bandits.
The Governor expressed with dismay the deteriorating security situation in the state, especially in the last 10 days
The Governor also directed closure of all boarding Secondary Schools in Munya,Rafi, Shiroro and Mariga Local Government Areas of the State with immediate effect
He maintained that the schools will remain closed until the security situation improves.
