In a swift move of events, the Nigerian Police Force has withdrawn its lawsuit filed by Atoyebi to discontinue the probe into the now-disbanded FSARS Movement and the questionable acts committed.
The Legal Representative, Oyetola Ayotebi, argued that state governments had no legal powers to try police officers for wrongdoings and should only be addressed by the Nigerian Police Force according to section 21 of the Tribunals of Inquiry of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
The withdrawal was tendered by Festus Ibude, another Nigerian Police Lawyer, and read in part as follows.
“Take notice that the plaintiff herein intends to and doth hereby wholly withdraws its suit against all the defendants.”
