A ceremony took place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire to receive the remains of the now-deceased Prime Minister, Hamed Bakayoko from Germany. Hambak passed away due to complications arising from a cancer treatment in a hospital in Germany.
Bakayoko served as prime Minister for 8 months before his passing. Many were seen on the sidelines to express their condolences as the ceremony progressed holding placards with the words “Hambak, Farewell, Forever” boldly written on them.
A week of national mourning has been declared for the former Prime Minister by President Allasane Outtara.
