Irregular Migration: Edo Govt. Blames Systemic Failure,youths Neglect, Laud Partners

Edo State, have identified systemic failure as part of reasons for the mass exodus of youths in the state to other parts of the world in search of greener pastures why Stating that the present administration in the past six years, has focused on addressing the trend.

Obaseki who disclosed this during the launch of the “Managing Migration through Development MMDP 2.0 Project, in Benin City, the Edo State capital said his government has embarked on several programs, policies, and reforms to provide an effective and comprehensive legal framework that will check the scourge of human trafficking.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu added that phase two of the project will sustain the gains recorded.

On their part, the Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Stefano De Leo, and the Head of Lagos and Benin City Sub-Office of IOM, Victor Lutenco commended the government’s commitment, stating that they will provide special assistance to migrants to improve their reintegration and shelter.
