INEC Sure Of Smooth Elections In Borno Despite Security Challenges

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Borno State says it is set for the presidential and National Assembly elections, scheduled for Saturday.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mohammed Magaji, said this in Maiduguri on Friday. 

The Borno Resident Electoral Commissioner said there has been a high-level collaboration with the Nigerian military, the Police and other security agencies, as regards, escorting election materials and ad hoc staff, from Maiduguri to accessible areas like Bama, Gamboru-Ngala, Gwoza, among others. 

Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu, assured of the preparedness of the Police and sister agencies, to provide security. 

He said there will be a restriction of vehicular movement, excluding those on essential duty, from 10.30pm, on the eve of the election, till 6 pm on election day. 

Chukwu warned trouble makers to stay away, as the Police will take drastic action against violators. 

The Police and sister agencies have been engaged in a “show of force”, which will be sustained.
