Amid a political crisis in Tunisia, Parliament Speaker Rached announced Tuesday that he is willing to quit.
“If my resigning is a solution, I will not hesitate to reveal it,” Ghannouchi told the local newspaper Al-Sabah.
Tunisia has been engulfed in political turmoil since President Kais Saied deposed the cabinet, halted parliament, and assumed executive control on July 25.
While Saied claims his “special actions” are intended to “rescue” the country, detractors accuse him of plotting a coup.
“We have two choices: either the president reverses his actions, or the crisis continues,” Ghannouchi remarked.
“The president’s adherence to the constitution and its institutions is offered as a solution to the crisis,” he continued.
Tunisia is usually regarded as the only country to effectively complete a democratic transition after the Arab Spring events of 2011.
