Nigeria’s House of Representatives is to investigate the allocation of crude oil under the direct sale direct purchase scheme and the rationale for crude oil allocation per refineries in the country.

The investigation will also seek to know what happens to the un-utilized stock of crude oil to the refinery with inadequate production capability.

The motion which came under matter of urgent national importance is seeking to know the status of alleged 5.2 million barrels of crude oil allocated for domestic supply in 2018 till date and the unaccounted volume of 10.9 million barrels of crude oil allocated for domestic use in the same period which NNPC alleged is either stolen or diverted.

The House is to set up an ad hoc committee to carry out the investigation.

In another development, the house has asked INEC to review constituency delineation without further delay as enshrined in the 1999 constitution as amended.

Speaking outside the plenary, Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu said that the constitution empowers INEC to carry out the responsibility of constituency delineation and not the National Assembly.

The House committee on electoral matters is to interface with the leadership of INEC and report to the house in six weeks.
