Nigeria’s House of Representatives has set up a Conference Committee to harmonize the positions on the Electoral Act Amendments Bill with its upper legislative chamber.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, who made the announcement during Tuesday’s plenary, said that the Conference Committee will carry out its legislative duty in order to address the grey areas, particularly on electronic transmission of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The members include Hon. Akeem Adeyemi (Chairman), Hon. James Faleke, Hon. Chris Azubogu, Hon. Blessing Onu, Hon. Aishat Duku, Hon. Unyime Idem, and Hon. Abdullahi Kalambaina.

Both chambers of the National Assembly had in July passed different versions of Section 52 subsection 3 of the Electoral Act Amendment which has to do with electronic transmission of results by the INEC.
