The correctional facility in Abolongo, Oyo State came under night attack on Friday by unknown gunmen with some prisoners set free.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the correctional facility at Abolongo Olarewaju Anjorin stated that officials of the facility including other security personnel were overpowered by the gunmen before carrying out the attack and setting some prisoners free in the process.
Meanwhile, a detachment of security personnel, according to the statement, has been deployed to support officials of the correctional facility to track the unknown gunmen and possibly rearrest the fleeing prisoners.
