George Floyd's assailant, Derek Chauvin begins Trial Today

The infamous Minneapolis officer who pressed his knee into George Floyd’s neck last year, Derek Chauvin, and birthed the largest protest ever will begin his trial today at a courthouse in Minneapolis.

The court premises which have been surrounded by 2000 National Security Guard soldiers is on lockdown as the proceedings begin.

Chauvin is facing charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter for the death of George Floyd, who gave up the ghost.

The Black Lives Movement defied all lockdown directives and took place in several countries of the world after the video of the heinous death of Floyd, which was not at the time of his death a confirmed crime.

The act gave the world a real glimpse of how much racism has eaten deep into the fabric of American lives and inspired some changes not just in the United States but across the globe.
