Derby County boss, Frank Lampard, has been fined £2,000 by the FA for improper Conduct.

The Rams boss was sent off in the 77th minute of Derby County’s 1-0 loss to Rotherham for leaving his technical area to complain to the fourth official.

Although he claimed after the match that he was wrongly sent off, Lampard later accepted a charge of misconduct and has duly been fined.

The yellow and red cards to managers for misconduct in the technical area during competitive fixtures is a new rule, and most managers are yet to get used to it.

Cards are issued to managers in the FA Cup, Football League, EFL Cup, EFL Trophy and National League; only in the Premier League, are cards not issued to coaches but they get verbal warnings.

Irresponsible behaviour, such as inappropriate language and gestures towards match officials, kicking or throwing water bottles, coats or other objects, and sarcastic clapping result in a yellow card being issued – stage one warnings.

If a manager receives four warnings, an automatic one-game suspension is triggered while eight warnings result in a two-match ban.
