The former Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly and Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, Isah Kawu, and the former Secretary to Niger State Government, Professor Kuta Yahaya, are among prominent personalities who defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, from their respective parties.

The personalities made their positions known at a stakeholders meeting of the APC State Caretaker Committee Members and Members of the National Assembly from the state led by Senator Sabi Abdullahi.

It was resolved that the party should respect the zoning arrangement, which will allow the Niger State Senatorial District of the State to produce the next governorship candidate.

The party commended all the political parties in the state, for allowing all the Senatorial Districts to produce Governorship candidates from nineteen-ninety-nine from Niger South, which is Zone A.

The Zone had produced former Governor Abdul-Qadir Kure, from nineteen-ninety-nine to two thousand and seven.

Zone B, which is Niger East, had also produced a two-term former Governor, Babangida Aliyu.

Zone C also produced the serving Governor Abubakar Bello, who will complete his second term tenure by 2023.

Governor Abubakar Bello assured members of the party of a fair playground to contribute to the development of the state at different levels.
