The Federal Government has advised state governors and the Federal Capital Territory Minister to interface with the protesters in their respective domains, to help find a lasting solution to the #EndSars agitation across Nigeria.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Godfrey Onyeama, announced this on Tuesday, when he and the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, met with the members of the Diplomatic Corps in Abuja.

Onyeama said that they are to also immediately establish state-based special security and human rights committees, to be chaired by Governors in their state.

The Governors will also supervise the newly formed police tactical units and all other security agencies located in their state.

He said this is expected to ensure the protection of citizens’ human rights.

The move may be a first step to the fulfillment of agitation for state police in the federating units.

According to Onyeama and Muhammed, members of this committee will include representatives of the youths and civil society as well as head of police tactical units in each state.
