Central African Republic (CAR) President, Faustin-Archange Touadéra has been sworn-in for his second term after emerging victorious at the December 27, 2020, presidential elections with 53.16% votes.

The event was attended by many foreign dignitaries, such as Moussa Faki Mahamat, the African Union chairperson and others, in the capital city of Bangui.

The elections which suffered some violence during the first round of voting was later contained. Election officials are however confident of the results.

CAR has been rife with insecurity which resulted in mass displacement of its citizens into neighboring countries such as Chad, DR Congo, and even Nigeria.

Cameroonian Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute expressed hope that stability will be restored to the region under the leadership of Touadéra.

Touadéra is the only democratically elected president to secure a second term in CAR.
