The case of Kemisola Ogunniyi, a suspected #EndSARS protester who gave birth while in detention has re-awaken the call for the implementation of various recommendations of the recent Panel of Inquiry into Police Brutality and other Related Offences by state Governors across Nigeria.
Kemisola, who was arrested along with three others in the wake of violence that erupted after the #EndSARS protest in Akure in 2020, delivered a baby boy at the Olokuta Correctional facility in Ondo last week.

It shows when Oguniyi and three others were arrested by some security operatives after the violence that erupted in the wake of the #EndSARS protests.
Eight months down the line, 18-year-old Oguniyi gave birth while still in detention, a situation that drew public attention.
With just two days to the Christening of the new baby, Justice Omolara Adejumo of the Ondo State High Court granted Oguniyi bail after her application was heard by the judge.
The question, however is, whether Oguniyi’s bail is on compassionate grounds or based on merit?
One other troubling issue in the face of the latest development is the fate of others who were arrested along Oguniyi and are still in detention at the moment.
This situation has also re-awaken the call for the implementation of various recommendations of a recent Panel of Inquiry into Police Brutalities and other Related Offences
Many are hoping that the bail extended to Oguniyi whether, on compassionate grounds or not, same should be extended to the remaining three others still in detention.
