Belarus arrests journalist

The European Union Leaders have all agreed to sanction Belarus after a forceful diversion of a passenger jet flying across two EU countries for the sole sake of the arrest of an opposition journalist, Roman Protasevich.

The jet which was enroute to Lithuania from Greece was intercepted and the said journalist was arrested. Protasevich, a known antagonist of the Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko was then detained in custody.

The EU alongside the US has condemned the act and is weighing all options available to keep those responsible for the mindboggling act accountable. The EU has disclosed plans to place a ban on the bloc’s airspace. Individual EU leaders are also considering individual sanctions and intimated the International Civil Aviation Authority to investigate what has now been termed – State Terrorism.

Meanwhile, the detained journalist, whose arrest has sparked another protest movement, was seen in a video wearing a black sweatshirt and cooperating with authorities in his own words. Although he seemed to be stating to be well, his body language showed he may have been reading a script under duress to suppress public sentiments.

His allies were not swayed though and revealed as much on their social media platforms. His father described the whole debacle as “total insanity”.
