In light of the recent announcement by Justice Doris Okuwobi at the Lagos Panel #ENDSARS hearing for the LCC to repossess the Lekki Toll, Nigerian Youths have announced plans to re-occupy the toll gate in what they have termed an injustice.
The controversial toll gate witnessed the loss of several lives on the 20th of October, 2020 in what many now refer to as the #LekkiTollMassacre as seen in many videos that circulated online, on a certain DJ Switch’s Instagram Live recording, and as ratified by the Cable News Network.
The Youths had begun a protest that took on a life of its own after a video of the now-defunct #FSARS members were seen accosting yet another civilian giving rise to a protest that replicated itself globally after gaining international attention.
The Nigerian Minister for Information and Culture continues to maintain that all the videos were doctored and all such news can be categorized as fake news.
The youths have argued that the decision to grant repossession to the LCC is one-sided especially as the team representing the youths were blindsided and only arrived when the ruling was signed into law.
The new protest has been scheduled for the 13th of February, 2021
