ekocab hits brickwall

Twitter is now in a frenzy after a young man who identifies himself as _Sir_Cole tweeted in a 26 long threaded message on how he sometimes suggested to the Lagos Government on how to regulate ride-hailing services by suggesting measures that seem to have now been put in place by the current administration a.k.a Keke/Okada ban and the more stringent regulations for ride-hailing services while canvassing for support on the new ‘EkoCab’ that is supposed to compete with the existing ride-hailing services.

Well, Twitter users were not having it as many called him out for stealing the intellectual property of the existing services with the excuse that their data would now belong to the state government as opposed to the digital companies. The App which was supposed to launch by March 17 has already garnered enough 1-Star reviews on the Google Play Store, with many users expressing their discontent with the poor user experience, the fact that the Map location reflects India as opposed to Lagos State and have described it as a Poor man’s Uber with echoes of advising all to uninstall.

The less than stellar reviews can only result in the App getting uninstalled from the PlayStore according to the guidelines and this may ruin the business model before it even takes off. It did not help with Twitter users asserting that the owner of the app is a direct relation to the current State Governor, Babajide Sanwoolu.

It doesn’t end there, unfortunately, another Twitter user has now revealed that this same idea was pitched to the Governor’s team in 2018 and the team members are currently biting their fingernails in regret for revealing too much information.

What’s your take?
