Egypt moves 22 Royal Mummies to Final Destination in Grand Parade

As many as 22 ancient Egyptian mummies of Royal Heritage will today be transported to a new museum home in Cairo. The mummies, including 18 kings and 4 queens, will be transported in a convoy from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat.

Each of the mummies will be placed in a special closing filled with Nitrogen to continue the preservation process during the transition. Egyptian Archaeologist, Zahi Hawass disclosed in a statement that the move will allow for the mummies to be displayed in a civilized manner.

The parade which was designed to honour the kings will include the remains of Ramses II, Seti I, Ahmose-Nefertari, Seqenenre Tao among several others will see the Nile shut as the ceremony progresses.
