Ugandan former child soldier, Dominic Ongwen has been sentenced to 25 years imprisonment for torture, rape, and murder. Atrocities he has been found guilty of by the International Criminal Court. He was convicted of 61 counts of crime against humanity.
His case was very sensational based on the grounds that he was abducted by the Lord’s Resistance Army as a young boy in primary school and many believe his abductors were largely responsible for indoctrinating him into the world of sexual-based and gender releated crimes he has just been sentenced for.
He was notably one of the fiercest warriors in the rebel movement and became the commander of the Sinia Brigade while he was with the terrorist group. The group continues to kill and abduct citizens in the Central African Republic.
