Delta State government has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to work towards achieving electronic transmission of results from the polling unit in the 2023 general elections and subsequent ones.

Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, who spoke the mind of the government on the much talked about the electronic transmission of results when he received a delegate of electoral empire led by the Resident Electoral Commission, REC, Monday Udom Tom, who was on advocacy visit to his office in Asaba, argued that if INEC could electronically verify permanent voters cardholders, electronic transmission of election results will be a walkover for them.

Aniagwu strongly believed that the majority of Nigerians firmly support INEC transmission of election results electronically.

He pleaded with the election empire to be resolute in their resolve to conduct an election that will meet the international standards by promoting transparency and integrity of the country’s electoral process.

The Information Commissioner pledged Delta State’s commitment towards ensuring that more people in the state participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration and further collaborate with the Commission in achieving its set goals for electoral integrity.

Udom said he was on an advocacy visit and to thank the Governor for his approval for the use of the state media outfits to sensitize the electorates noting that Delta is not doing badly in the current drive.

He used the opportunity to call on those who had problems with their cards and those that need to transfer their voting point to utilise the opportunity presented by the CVR while the Commission, he explained had created additional 2,239 polling units in the state, bringing the total to 5,836 aimed at decongesting the voting environment.
