The #StateofemergencyGBV has once again called on the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, to match its words with action, following its declaration of a state of emergency on sexual and Gender-Based Violence across Nigerian states.
The group, who made the call, while lending its voice on the 16 days of activism to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, advocated for the immediate domestication of actions to halt the scourge of sexual and gender-based violence, especially in states which are yet to take affirmative actions against it.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the group explained that out of 21 target states, only five states including Bauchi, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Delta, and Kwara states have passed the law.
