The relationship between China and the United States brings benefits to peoples of the two countries and pushes for peace, stability and prosperity of the world, Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan said on Thursday.
Addressing a reception to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic relations in Beijing, Wang said that to serve the fundamental interest of the two peoples, then Chinese and American leaders made a historic decision on the establishment of diplomatic relations with extraordinary strategic vision and great political courage, opening a new page on China-U.S. ties 40 years ago.
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter said in his congratulatory message that the United States and China should join hands to create the future together and benefit the two peoples and all humanity.
More than 300 people from all circles of China and the United States, including U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, attended the event.
