As the Catholic Church in Benue, yesterday interred the two priests, Rev. Fathers Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha, and 17 worshippers slain by alleged herdsmen at the St. Ignatius Quasi Parish at Mbalom, Benue State, and Catholics were on the streets of the nation to protest their deaths.

In Bauchi State, prayers were offered, while the protest was in support of the Makurdi Diocese.

The Jos North branch of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, held prayers to mourn the deceased and for peace in the land.

In Kaduna, Catholics took to the streets in a peaceful march, as Protestants and Muslims joined in the protest.

In Benin, despite the early morning rains, the Catholic faithful marched through major streets in the state capital with various messages on their placards.

Solidarity masses and marches took place in different parts of the nation.

All over Nigeria, their message was clear: for the Federal Government to do all in its power to end the violence in the country and identify their killers and ensure they are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
