What started out as a viral Grammy performance turned into a more viral controversial conversation on what female empowerment is on Twitter, all smack in the middle of International Women’s Month. It doesn’t get any more feminine than this.

It all started with a single Interview!

Candace Owen, after watching the Grammy performance of Meghan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s WAP song, in her usual fashion on Fox News described the performance as the corrosion of an empire.

The ‘American Empire’ as she puts it. Candace expressed that the show of vulgarity is no inspiration to kids or black women anywhere. She also expects Cardi B to be ashamed of her conduct.

Cardi B, of course, was not going to scroll through, the stern reprimand also did not seem to have the desired effect as she not only thanked Candace for helping her rake in the publicity for the performance but made sure to note that the responsibility of what kids consume in media is entirely up to their parents.

Candace wasn’t going to stop until she further disparaged Cardi B and labelled her a cancer cell to culture for her extremely evoking performance, however, Cardi B shot back with being inspired by the former First Lady who used to model nude.

It is quite an interesting thread and you should probably read it here

The conversation gravitated towards race and Cardi B made sure to mention that for all Candace Owen’s facade of equality and freedom exploits, her post about being stuck in the kitchen bare feet and pregnant making sandwich for her caucasian spouse wasn’t hitting the target either.

The bout has now spiralled into a lawsuit with Candace Owen threatening to sue Cardi B over photoshopping tweet of her marriage facing some sort of infidelity crisis, Cardi B is of course threatening to countersue since the photoshopped picture was widely covered last year by news outlets.

While both have very valid points, who gets to determine what makes someone feel empowered or not? It appears Cardi B is empowering women like her or those who believe in her. We’d also like to believe that Candace Owen is doing the same with her followers or political audience.

Is intolerance not the bone of contention here???
