The Senate and House of Representatives committee mandated to investigate the April 18 Senate invasion has summoned two legislators.

The presence of Ovie Omo-Agege (APC, Delta) and Ali Ndume (APC, Borno) were demanded for allegedly colluding with the invaders who stole the Senate mace.

The police, who are still investigating the matter, later retrieved the mace.

The summon issued by the chairman of the committee, Bala Ibn Na’Allah, follows statements from heads of many security agencies within the National Assembly. They claim that Senator Omo-Agege led seven unauthorized persons into the red chamber and interrupted plenary.

It has also been alleged that Senator Ndume prevented the mace keeper from ensuring its safety.

In the letter issued to the lawmakers, they are required to respond to the allegations on Wednesday, May 16 at 11:00 am.
