The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Alhaji Babakura Abba-Jato has confirmed the sad passing of the Emir of Biu, Mai-Umar Mustafa-Aliyu.
He passed away during the wee hours of the morning due to an undisclosed illness at 80 years.
The Emir was born in Biu in the year 1940 and attended the Kwaya Kusar Junior Primary School from 1947 till 1949 and Biu Central Primary School from 1950 to 1953.
He was appointed as Emir in June 1989. His remains will be laid to rest this by 2pm in Biu according to palatial sources.
