The former world’s richest man has decided to retire his position as one of the Board of Directors at Microsoft and Warren Buffett’s company, Bethshire Hathaway.

The information was released via a Press Release from the company he helped to found alongside Paul Allen.

Bill Gates disclosed that he would be leaving the board to focus more on philanthropy. His new found love but will however still be part and parcel of the ongoings at Microsoft.

Bill still has 1.36% of Microsoft Shares. Read his statement on LinkedIn below

“I have made the decision to step down from both of the public boards on which I serve – Microsoft and Berkshire Hathaway – to dedicate more time to philanthropic priorities including global health and development, education, and my increasing engagement in tackling climate change,” Gates said on LinkedIn. “The leadership at the Berkshire companies and Microsoft has never been stronger, so the time is right to take this step.”
