The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has given its nod to the sent to it by Governor Douye Diri for screening into various positions in the state’s Local Government Service Commission and Physical Planning Development Board.

Addressing them at the State House of Assembly Complex in Yenagoa, Speaker Abraham Ingobore and other lawmakers advised them to work collectively with other governmental stakeholders to move the state forward.

On exactly June 24, 2021, the Bayelsa State Governor forwarded a list of eight nominees to the State Legislature for screening and possible appointment into the Bayelsa Local Government Service Commission and Physical Planning Development Board.

In line with their constitutional duty, the lawmakers grilled the nominees for about two hours, testing their capacity ahead of the responsibilities to be placed on their shoulders.

Two former lawmakers, Gideon Ekeuwe and Princess Iwoiwari were, however, accorded parliamentary privileges and excused from the exercise.

Shortly after the screening, the Speaker of the House and some lawmakers gave advice to the appointees.

The legislators thereafter went into a Committee of the Whole in which the seven nominees were cleared with exception of one Makus Oloye who was absent.
