The suspended Clerk of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Kozigena Edward Awudogu, has been reinstated, following the unanimous decision of the members to grant him pardon.

Awudogu drew the anger of the lawmakers in November last year when he was said to have unilaterally forwarded the State Legislature’s budget projections in Bayelsa 2021 Appropriation Document without due consultations.

Although the suspension of Awudogu was supposed to have been for a period of three months, it, however, extended by another five months.

But the House Adhoc Committee chaired by Deputy Leader, Bernard Kenebai, after presenting the reports of its investigation in a sitting presided over by Speaker, Abraham Ingobere, decided to reinstate him.

The House Committee Chairman on information, Tare Porri, also said the reinstatement became necessary as the Clerk has apologized and shown remorse.

In the same plenary, a bill seeking to repeal and reenact the Bayelsa State Legislative Management Fund, which is aimed at strengthening the financial and full autonomy of the State Legislature, was read for the first time.
