The Lagos governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party, Babatunde Gbadamosi, wowed Lagosians at the Saturday’s Lagos gubernatorial election debate, confidently revealing his plans for Nigeria’s commercial capital if elected governor.

The Lagos Governorship Debate was conducted by The Platform, an initiative if the Covenant Christian Centre. It was moderated by British-Nigerian Christian broadcaster, Victor Oladokun, and had in attendance the major contenders for the governorship position in the coming elections including Mr Gbadamosi (ADP), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (APC), Jimi Agbaje (PDP), and Owolabi Salis (AD).

Mr Gbadamosi started by stating that he would swiftly review the salaries of the public sector, adding that they were currently ‘disgracefully paid’ even though they are required to produce a ‘21st century service’.

His second point of view stated that his priority will be to boost the infrastructural shortfall of the state to curb the looming challenges caused by the traffic situation in the state.

He proposed to build rail lines channelled to all the exit points of the state, thereby opening up water transportation for the easy transportation of containers by barges instead of through the roads thereby massively reducing traffic.

He finally ended by addressing the current lack of prudence in running the state’s finances, stating that the current ruling party hasn’t been transparent with the budget as the state’s website no longer exists.

He affirmed to run an open and transparent governance system if elected.
