The President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi on behalf of the
Union has listed out the barest minimum conditions for ASUU Strike to
end.
According to the terms, the Federal Government will have
to remit an additional ₦50 Billion, this in addition to the sum of ₦20
Billion which was released as revitalisation funds, and also provide
evidence of including the Earned Academic Allowance into the 2019 budget
to address the discrepancies in Salaries.
He further disclosed
that after deliberating on the issue with the Union, the last proposal
was rejected as a meagre offer from the Federal Government’s end.
He
in very clear terms explained that the ₦20 Billion the government
planned to release would not in any way address the present situation.
releasing a further ₦50 Billion by the government will be taken as a
sign of commitment.
