Army hands over 180 minors to UNICEF

The Nigerian Army has formally handed over one hundred and eighty- three children linked with the Boko Haram terrorist group in the Northeast, to the United Nations Children and Education Fund, for rehabilitation.

This Handover is described by Chief Army Lt.Gen Tukur Buratai as being in line with the international laws for the protection of children in conflict.

 

The rescued children include 175 boys and 8 girls. Some of these children were used as fighters and suicide bombers.

 

The children would go through comprehensive psychological support and rehabilitation programme to help their integration into the society.
