Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, has applied for Supreme Court leave to file fresh evidence against President Bola Tinubu. He claims that Tinubu submitted forged documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission to qualify for the February 25 presidential election. Atiku argues that Tinubu committed a twin offence of forgery and perjury, deserveding removal from office by the Supreme Court. He seeks to tender Tinubu’s academic records, which were handed over to him by Chicago State University on October 2, 2023. The application was filed on 20 grounds, including the claim that the deposition and accompanying documents would have an important effect in the resolution of the appeal. The Supreme Court has yet to set a date for the motion to be heard.
