The COVID 19 pandemic has claimed the life of another high profile figure in Akwa Ibom state. He is the state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Udo Ekpenyong.
Ekpenyong is said to have died of complications from the dreaded disease.
He was elected as chairman of the state PDP in July 2020 after resigning as Commissiononer for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to contest for the position.
An official statement from the party and government is being awaited. This comes as the state is still mourning the death of the late chairman of Pand Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, and former military governor of the state, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga (Retired) who died on Christmas eve due to complications from the virus disease.
