Nigeria has again fallen short in the U-19 World Volleyball Championship this Tuesday. The Sani Mohammed side lost to Egypt 3-1 in the 9th to 16th classification fixture.

The Nigerian boys had the advantage after claiming the first set 25-22 but capitulated in the second and third set 19-25 and 21 -25. The reigning African champions were edged out in the fourth set 25-23.

However, their hopes of ending the tournament with an improvement to their 14th place finish at the last edition of the championship in Tunisia are still much alive.

Nigeria will now face the winner between Thailand and the Czech Republic in the 13th to 16th classification match on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria upset defending champions, Italy 3-2 in the first quarter-final of the tournament.
