After 48 hours in captivity, the National President of Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, Peter Igbifa, has regained his freedom to join the ongoing protest led by his association.

The IYC National Leader, who spoke to reporters in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, said that he was released at a forest in the Kiama community of Kolokuma Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.

It is day two of the protest to demand the appointment of a substantive Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The protesters have continued to occupy the Mbiama axis of the ever-busy East-West Road, when the National President of the IYC, arrived at the scene of the protest.

The IYC leader who was reportedly kidnapped Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, addressed reporters.

Igbifa responded to the IYC resolution on the sole administrative management of the Interventionist Agency.

In the face of the IYC protest and agitation, the Presidency is yet to respond to the situation as most Nigerians continue to suffer and lose manhours travelling on the East-West Road.
