39 more dead in Myanmar as Chinese Factories set Ablaze
YANGON, MYANMAR - FEBRUARY 13: Protesters hold placards and shout slogans near the City Hall on February 13, 2021 in Yangon, Myanmar. Myanmar declared martial law in parts of the country, including its two largest cities, as protests continued to draw people to the streets after the country's military junta staged a coup against the elected National League For Democracy (NLD) government and detained de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Another 39 protesters were killed yesterday in Myanmar making it the day with the highest count of death casualties in the country.

22 protesters in favour of the coup were killed by security forces and a Chinese factory set on fire around the Hlainthaya area of the main city. Many of the Chinese nationals were terribly injured and trapped by unidentified attackers in the garment factories.

A police officer and 16 others also lost their lives. A journalist who witnessed the incident according to Reuters disclosed that people were shot before his very eyes.

The riot in Myanmar began on February 1st after the military forcefully removed Aung Suu Kyi from office in what has become one of the most violent coups in recent times.

Although the United States and Europe have threatened sanctions over the political uprising and denied them access to internationally owned funds, the protests seem to be nowhere near ending.
