President Muhammadu Buhari has laid before the two chambers of the National Assembly, the proposed N19.76 trillion budget for the 2023 financial year, which is about a 15.37 per cent increase from the amount budgeted in 2022, being the last to be presented before his tenure elapses.
Earlier, the president had sent in a letter to the National Assembly regarding the presentation, a correspondence which was read during plenary, by the Senate President, Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan and Speaker of the House Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.
The president faulted some committees of the National Assembly for approving annual budgets of Government Owned Enterprises and giving it to them directly for implementation, and warned that appropriation for GOEs in the 2023 budget must be returned to the executive after due approval by the relevant committees.
