Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has criticized Jose Peseiro’s substitutions saying they nearly cost the Super Eagles the victory over Sierra Leone that confirmed their qualification for the 2023 AFCON.
Peseiro made three substitutions in the 71st minute, bringing in Kevin Akpoguma, Frank Onyeka, and Kelechi Iheanacho for Joe Aribo, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Samuel Chukwueze.
Despite the substitutions, Sierra Leone scored with six minutes remaining, as Augustus Kargbo made it 2-2 with a Iheanacho goal in the 95th minute required to save the Super Eagles from a draw and sealing qualification.
