The English Premier League, EPL, has again witnessed another disappointment as two more people from two clubs have tested positive for Coronavirus after the second batch of testing results were released.

Chief Executive of the League, Richard Masters, said players and staff at EPL clubs across the country received the results of their second round of Coronavirus test after they were carried out at their training ground.

A total of 996 tests were carried out in the second round of mass testing with the number of tests available to each club increased from 40 to 50.

Masters said all 20 English club sides have now carried out two rounds of testing with the clubs due to take part in the third tests on Monday and Tuesday.

So far, eight positive tests have been returned out of a total of 1,744 tests conducted in the first two rounds which amount to 0.45 per cent of the tests returning positive.

Amongst the eight who had already tested positive were Watford defender, Adrian Mariappa, as well as two members of the club’s staff.

Watford manager, Nigel Pearson, also revealed that two more players of his squad are in self-isolation after members of their family tested positive for the virus.

Premier League clubs returned to socially distanced training last week in small groups and the Chief Executive hopes the League will return to conclude the remaining 92 matches on June 12 or 19.
